Title:
VITRIFIED GRINDSTONE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/013580
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a vitrified grindstone which, when used in grinding a work, causes no grinding burn to that part of the work where a grinding fluid is less apt to come into the space between the work and the grindstone, and which does not cause the ground surface to have reduced surface quality. A vitrified superabrasive grinding wheel (10) is provided which includes vitrified grindstone pieces (26) each having microcapsules (38) containing, enclosed therein, a lubricant (42) for lubricating grinding points, i.e., cutting edges, of abrasive grains (34), the microcapsules (38) having been bonded to the inside of communicating voids (36) so that the voids (36) have been partly filled therewith.  Due to the constitution, the communicating voids have the intact functions inherent therein, such as the function of supplying an abrasive fluid and the chip pocket function which removes grinding dust from the grinding points.  Consequently, a high grinding ratio and high grinding efficiency can be attained.  In addition, the microcapsules (38) exposed in the grinding surface (20) are broken to release the grinding fluid (42) enclosed therein.  Therefore, that part of a work (H) to which a grinding fluid is less apt to be supplied is satisfactorily prevented from suffering a grinding burn.
