Abstract:
Disclosed is a voice recognition apparatus which can be connected to another voice recognition apparatus through a network connection so as to share voice recognition functions. The voice recognition apparatus comprises: a microphone for receiving a voice signal from a user's utterance; a communication unit for communicating with at least one external voice recognition apparatus; a voice recognition unit for recognizing a wakeup word included in the voice signal; and a control unit for transmitting the voice signal to an external voice recognition apparatus corresponding to the recognized wakeup word. Accordingly, it is possible to overcome limitations on the range of voice recognition, caused by the physical characteristics of a microphone, and to extend the spatial range within which a voice can be recognized, so that various voice recognition services can be provided to users in more places.
