Abstract:
A volume reduction method for organic remains mainly involves melting organic remains, ashes or bones of humans or animals at a high temperature and then cooling same to achieve volume reduction. Organic remains, ashes or bones containing minerals are fed to a high-temperature furnace, such that the organic remains are melted at a high temperature to form a molten liquid (1), and then different cooling techniques are performed on the molten liquid (1) to obtain an amorphous vitreous solid (2). Compared with the volume of ashes of incinerated organic remains, the volume of the solid (2) is reduced by approximately 20-75%. Melting of organic remains at a high temperature to form a solid (2) having a high density and a small volume not only effectively achieves volume reduction but also solves the problem of a shortage of urn storage units. Moreover, the solid (2) has sufficient stability and strength, and can be stored for a long time for memorial purposes.
