Abstract:
Provided is a walking assist system that can favorably assist the movement of a user using a walking assist device without excessively changing the movement characteristics of the user. The walking assist system 1 comprises a walking assist device 3 equipped with a motor 2 for the purpose of applying a walking assist force onto a lower limb of the user, a sensor 4 that detects the operation state of the walking assist device 3, and a separate unit 5 for the purpose of controlling the walking assist device 3. The separate unit comprises: a battery 7; a drive control device 9 that is connected to the sensor 4 via a signal cable 6 and to the motor 2 via a power cable 8 and that supplies drive current required by the motor 2 from the battery 7 to the motor 2 on the basis of the sensor 4 output; and an operation panel 10 for the purpose of operating the drive control device 9.
