Title:
WALKING SHOE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2004016124
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
A walking shoe (10). According to one aspect of the present invention, a walking shoe (10) includes a segmented midsole (20) with a thickness that changes from back (20a) to front (20f). The midsole (20) includes a back portion (20a) and an arcuate front portion (20f). The arcuate front portion (20f) interfaces with the back portion (20a) and includes a plurality of forward sections (20c-20f). At least one of the forward sections (20c-20f) differs in density relative to another of the forward sections (20c-20f). Relatively denser forward sections facilitate a rebound or spring effect as a walker pushes off during a walking stride. Relatively less dense forward sections add cushioning, making the walking stride more comfortable by lessening impact to the walker's foot.
