Description

Title of Invention : Wan- mounted valves (Sanitary Taps) with 90 ° angle or

L mechanism

Technical Field

[0001 ] [Sanitary Taps

[0002] Civil Engineering and Architecture

Background Art

[0003] Because of different functions of valves, there are various designs in the technology and designing of them.

Some valves are used to operate opening and closing (on and off) the flow of fluid, such as: ball valves, butterfly valves, gate valves and plug valves,

And some valves are used to check or control the flow, such as: globe valves, check valves, needle valves.

Construction of valves: most of valves have common components in their constructions:

• Body

• Disc: A ball or a conical cylindrical which is in the ball valves and plug valves.

• Seat: place of the disc or connection of the body and the disc. It often consists of a soft material to do sealing.

• Stem and hand-wheel: the hand-wheel is connected to the disc with the stem; the stem is usually opened or closed through turning the hand-wheel.

Of course, the check valve, which automatically just allows the flow to move in one path, does not have stem and hand- wheel components.

According to the valves function, different materials are used in their constructions. In the building part, cast-iron, bronze, brass and sometimes steel (SS) valves are used, and in the industrial part such as power stations, petrochemical plants, refinery sites, shipbuilding industries, and pharmaceutical /food industries, depending on the fluid passing through the valve or the environment where the valve is located, the body and its other components are made of carbon steel, alloy steel or stainless steel.

The valves are turned on or off, either with hand or actuator.

The most commonly used alloy for the valves production is brass, which is made of copper and zinc, and the Iranian Center for Standardization and Industrial Research has defined all the characteristics and constraints required for elements in terms of their weight percent. In the case of the thickness of cross-section of the bodies in a variety of classical valves, it must be observed at least 2 mm. Of course, there is no limitation of the thickness in the one branch valves, only they must tolerate the 25 times static pressure without any deformation. One of the most important parts of a sanitary faucets manufacturing unit is plating standard.

Ball valve: It is an industrial valve that has a spherical or semi spherical element which revolves around a. vertical axis, depending on the fluid flow path, its task is to stop the flow. It generally consists of a body, one or two sealing cap (closure), one spherical part in which there is a hole for fluid flow, two seat rings and one stem.

Butterfly valve: A kind of industrial valves, in which a circular or rectangular disk (that can rotate around its axis) is used to control or obstruct the fluid flow path.

Gate valve: The type of valve that is used in the industry and uses a circular or rectangular gate to open and close (on-off) the flow path of the fluid.

Plug valve: The industrial valve which the flow-restricting part is as a cone or cylinder.

Its structure is simple and has a body, a duct closure (that a hole for fluid flow is embedded in it) and a sealing cap. This kind of valve has different types. Double Plug,

3 or 4 ways, Lubricated Cylindrical Plug Valve, lubricated taper Plug Valve, Non lubricated taper Plug Valve are different kinds of this valve.

Globe valve: A type of industrial valves in which a disc that is shaped in the form of a frustum or a hemisphere, must control the flow of fluid. These types of valves are mainly installed in routes where the control of flow discharging has to be performed. Due to the nonlinear fluid flow, resistance to flow in these types of valves is higher than other types of them.

Check valve: A kind of industrial valves in which the fluid (gas or liquid) can only move in one direction, and in the event of fluid return, the flow path would be blocked. These types of valves are used in different industrial equipment, such as pumps, hydraulic jacks, power station equipment and chemical industries.

Needle valve: A type of industrial valves in which a piece such as needle that move by means of threads, is used to control the flow of fluid. These types of valves are mainly installed in routes where the control of flow discharging has to be done.

Other than above items, we can also refer to diaphragm valves. Some of above valves may be used for two purposes, such as Ball valves or Butterfly valves.

However, the sanitary taps mainly are designed for using on walls or on basin. In order to install a variety of valves in the corners or angles of the desired space, just should use the single-branch valves or on-basin valves. These valves can be used in hand-washing basins, kitchen sinks and bath-tubs models, and it is one of the most commonly used methods in the worldwide, but practically it is not possible to use them in the Islamic WC (where there is a need for a faucet next to the toilet bowl), and also for the bathroom shower that water valve should be mounted on the wall. It is emphasized that just single-branch or on-basin valves can be used in 90 degree position, and the bathroom faucet or shower stand and the tap of toilet in WC just can be used as wall-mounted valves. Summary of Invention

Technical Problem

[0004] Today, in the building industry, many types of valves are designed and manufactured according to their application, operation or shape.

Basically, the building valves are designed for using on the wall and basin, with butterfly and lever operation.

According to the installed valves and equipment, the space which is required in design of the bathroom and the toilet, should not be less than a minimum dimensions.

However, in the current urban conditions, and in spite of this fact that houses are in a minimum size, and the area which is occupied with the bathroom and the toilet, is relatively large, usually due to lack of space in the Islamic WC, the toilets in western style are installed in the bathrooms.

On the other hand, in public places, such as swimming pools and gyms, there is a need for showering and bathrooms, and in the shopping centers there is a need for more toilets at least space.

The shower faucet is one type of valve that is installed with the shower and its stand in the building bathroom, and a person who uses it, practically should be at about 30 cm from his/her behind wall. If the space for bathing and taking shower (such as public pools) is limited and small, the front wall of the shower would be very close and actually useless.

Considering these technical problems, there will be some other problems:

1. The space which is occupied with the shower and its stand, is about 20 cm from the wall of the bathroom;

2. Head or waist collision with a shower while sitting or getting up is most common, which it can be much more dangerous for children;

3. Water splashing in around, cause more moist of the bathroom walls surfaces;

4. Inability to locate wall-mounted faucets in proper angles and corners of WC;

5. Occupancy of useful spaces in the bathroom (toilet) by the valves and faucets;

6. Impossibility of installation in limited spaces;

7. Another technical problem is the condition of the proximity of the toilet bowl to the wall of the toilet, which is the place of the faucet. This is one of the most common problems in Islamic toilets.

8. Limited spaces in small bathrooms, which because of installation of a valve and shower spout stand and occupation of useful spaces, would be practically useless. Solution to Problem

[0005] In this regard, in the field of design, some innovations have been made to create better conditions in designing and manufacturing building faucets and valves.

Wall-mounted valves with a 90° angle or L-shape eliminate the above problems and cover the weaknesses in the design of the building taps.

According to technical plans, the design of these types of valves is completely different from the existing valves in the worldwide, and no similar items have already been produced or registered. The explanation is that the 90° angle or the L mechanism is not about the stand of valve, but the design of the trunk and main body of the valve and the type of connection and installation are at a 90-degree angle or L shape.

90° angle or L valves are based on a new generation of one branch taps with innovation in body design that makes it possible to achieve a new kind of wall-mounted one branch taps.

Designing of these types of 90-degree valves are as follows:

Its mechanical mechanism is such as common valves; it has a lever handle to switch between hot and cold water, and a water outlet and also, a diverter to shift to the shower status.

The innovative design of this type of valve is in the design of the body and the connection point to the water pipe, which is designed as 90-degree angle with the L position. While executing the building tubing (piping) and mounting at the corner and angle of the bathroom or WC, you must install the hot water pipe at one side of the wall and set the cold water pipe with a fixed distance from that, which after construction the faucet would be installed as angle form in the corner.

Advantageous Effects of Invention

[0006] This type of designing 90° angle or L mechanism in the body of the valves is

completely innovative, which is designed to be installed in the corners of the bathroom or toilet.

The exterior design of this valve creates more favorable conditions for use in limited spaces.

The invention with the 90-degree angle design includes a water regulation lever and a diverter to shift water status. Using the one branch tap to design and manufacture 90-degree or L valve, is one of the main elements.

The innovative step of the invention is the design of the main body of wall-mounted valves and its innovation appearance in executive procedure that can be used in the industry. Size, appearance model, the amount of input or output of water, even its mechanical components design has no limitations, and also the sensor or electronic eye technology can be used in its production.

Advantages of the invention are as follows:

1. The potential of designing bathrooms in small spaces;

2. Using vacant spaces in corners to place the faucets;

3. Prevention of collisions with water tap and probable damages;

4. Create more spaces on the bathroom which are useful and optimum;

5. The potential of interior design and decorate in the bathroom;

6. Implementation and installation both of the Islamic and western style toilets in the minimum space in the bathroom;

7. Ability to build and execute more bathrooms and toilets in a limited space in public areas such as swimming pools, shopping malls, sports halls, gyms and so on.

Description of Embodiments

[0008] The sanitary taps mainly are designed for using on walls or on basin. In order to

install a variety of valves in the corners or angles of the desired spaces, just can use the single-branch valves or on-basin valves. These valves can be used in hand-washing basins, kitchen sinks and bath-tubs models, and it is one of the most commonly used methods in the worldwide, but practically it is not possible to use them in the Islamic WC - where there is a need for a faucet next to the toilet bowl - and also the bathroom shower that water valve should be mounted on the wall. It should be noted that just single-branch or on-basin valves can be used in 90-degree position, but the bathroom faucet or shower stand and the tap of toilet in Islamic WC just can be used as the wall-mounted type. Another technical problem is the condition of the proximity of the toilet bowl to the wall of the toilet, which is the place of the faucet. This is one of the most common problems in Islamic toilets. Limited spaces in small bathrooms through installation of a valve and shower spout stand practically make spaces useless due to the occupation of useful spaces. Through these types of wall-mounted valves in the bathroom and toilet, which are designed at a 90-degree angle and can be mounted on the wall in the corners or sides of the bathroom, the above technical problems are eliminated.

The innovative step of the invention is the design of the main body of wall-mounted valves. According to technical plans, the design of these types of valves is completely different from the existing valves in the worldwide, and no similar items have already been produced or registered. The explanation is that the 90 degree angle or the L shape is not about the stand of valve, but the design of the trunk and main body of the valve and the type of connection and installation at a 90 degree angle or L shape. In order to use these types of valves, the installation and running and piping of the building water system should be designed according to the installation method of this type of valve. This type of panel cannot be used in common methods and the installation of the piping structure and should be based on symmetrically installation in corners and angles (cold water in a wall and hot water in next side), and in case of use, the Installation executives and plumbers should be trained in its implementation. Examples

[0009] In order to use 90-degree or L valves, when installing a building water system, the location of the faucets should be selected and the piping route must be carried out according to the installation of this type of valve.

The explanation is that these types of valves cannot be used in common methods and the installation of the piping structure should be based on symmetrically installation in corners and angles (cold water in a wall and hot water in other side).

In case of use, the Installation executives and plumbers should be trained on how to implement it.

Industrial Applicability

[0010] This type of valve can be used in the building industry and any types of bathrooms and toilets such as residential, sports or industrial spaces. In case of use, implementation and installation both of the Islamic and western style toilets can be done in the minimum space in the bathroom.

These valves in public spaces such as swimming pools, where showers are used in the smallest spaces, provide good conditions for improvement.

These types of valves can also be used in public restrooms.
