Abstract:
A washing machine and a control method therefor are disclosed. The washing machine according to one aspect comprises: at least one magnet attached to an auxiliary washing tub, which can be detached from a main washing tub; a switch unit for outputting a sensing signal when coming closer to the at least one magnet within a preset distance therefrom; and a control unit for determining whether the auxiliary washing tub is mounted on the basis of whether the sensing signal of the switch unit is outputted, and controlling constituent elements within the washing machine on the basis of a determination result for whether the auxiliary washing tub is mounted.
