A washing machine drum limit balance control system includes a positioning system, a transducer, an air gap sensor (2). The transducer electrically connects with the positioning system mounting on the washing machine tub (3). The air gap sensor (2) is mounted on the inner wall of the tub and electrically connects with the transducer. When the drum rotates, the air gap sensor (2) senses the air gap between thereof and the drum, sends the sensing air gap information to the transducer, changes the current distributed to the positioning system by the transducer, consequently changes the force applied on the drum by the positioning system, reduces the eccentricity of the washing machine drum and resulting collision of the tub and the drum. A washing machine drum limit balance control method capable of reducing the eccentricity of the washing machine drum and resulting collision of the tub and the drum, through detecting the air gap between the drum and the tub (3) by the sensor and controlling the force applied by the positioning system on the drum to change according to the change of the air gap.
