A drum type washing machineincludes: a tub installed in the interior of a main body and accommodating a rotary drum; a spring installed between an upper portion of the tub and the side of the main body; and a weight detection module installed between the tub and the main body, wherein the weight detection module includes a detection unitto detect the load of the tub; and a transmission unit to transmit data detected by the detection unit to a controller.
