A washing machine and a method for using a washing machine. The washing machine comprises: a plate base (11); an ultrasonic generator (4) disposed in the plate base (11) and movable between a cleaning position and an accommodated position, wherein the plate base (11) is provided with a casing (1) disposed within the plate base (11) to accommodate the ultrasonic generator (4); and a door member (2) capable of being opened or closed and disposed at a front portion of the casing (1). The ultrasonic generator (4) in the plate base (11) can move between the cleaning position and the accommodated position, thereby sufficiently utilizing the space within the plate base (11), and preventing the problem in which the ultrasonic generator (4) occupies an excessive volume and reduces available space within the plate base (11). In addition, the invention enables laundry immersed in a liquid to be in direct contact with an ultrasonic oscillator, thereby greatly reducing ultrasonic wave absorption and dissipation by soft laundry, and removing stains on the surface of the laundry as well as stubborn deep stains.
