Abstract:
This washing machine includes a cleaning tank (4) for accommodating items to be cleaned (2) and cleaning water, and a pressing unit (8) provided with freedom to move forward or backward with respect to the accommodated items to be cleaned (2). The washing machine additionally includes a lid (5), including the pressing unit (8), for opening and closing an opening portion of the cleaning tank (4), and a control unit (41) for controlling a washing operation of the washing machine (1). Furthermore, the pressing unit (8) includes an expandable expanding and contracting unit (8d), and is configured to be capable of being extended with the lid (5) open. That is, washing is performed by causing a pressing force to act on the items to be cleaned (2) by means of the expandable pressing unit (8). This makes it possible to achieve a washing machine (1) in which the pressing unit (8) can be maintained in a clean state.
