Abstract:
This washing machine is provided with: a centrifugal separation unit (20) which is provided in a water passage (19) for recirculating washing water in a washing drum, and which separates out foreign matter contained in the washing water flowing through the water passage (19); a pump blade (20k), which is a pump unit for causing the washing water to recirculate between the washing drum and the centrifugal separation unit (20) through the water passage (19); and a control unit (21) for controlling a washing operation. The centrifugal separation unit (20) includes a case (20a) connected to and communicating with the water passage (19), a rotating cylinder (20b) provided rotatably inside the case (20a), and a rotating cylinder motor (20c) for rotating the rotating cylinder (20b). The control unit (21) controls the rotating cylinder motor (20c), and varies the rotational speed of the rotating cylinder (20b) such that a speed difference between the rotational speed of the rotating cylinder (20b) and the speed of a swirling flow of the washing water inside the rotating cylinder (20b) is at most equal to a prescribed value.
