Abstract:

A wasp catching device provided on a beehive, according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises: a catching chamber, which is provided above a honeybee entering/exiting opening of the beehive, is made of a mesh allowing light to pass therethrough or a transparent or semitransparent material, and is for catching wasps; and a catching chamber inlet positioned at the lower part of the catching chamber, and formed so as to lure the wasps by means of the light entering the catching chamber. The catching chamber is spaced a predetermined distance from the ground so that a flying space for the free flying of the wasps and the honeybees is provided under the catching chamber inlet. The wasp catching device lures, by means of the light emitted from the inside the catching chamber, the wasps that have a habit of flying upward, so that the wasps fly into the flying space and fly upward to the catching chamber inlet. The present invention catches, in an exploratory flight stage, the wasps flying into the beehive, so as to catch a large number of wasps, thereby enabling damage to bee farms, caused by the wasps, to be reduced.
