Abstract:
Disclosed is a waste heat utilization apparatus capable of simplifying and expediting an output rise upon start of a Rankine cycle and controlling the Rankine cycle properly when a driven force transmission device is an engine.  The Rankine cycle comprises an expander inlet valve inserted in a circuit between the exit of an evaporator and the entrance of an expander, and a check valve interposed in a circuit between the exit of a pump and the entrance of the evaporator in order to inhibit the back flow of a working fluid from the evaporator to the pump, and is provided with a control means for closing the expander inlet valve upon stop of the expander and for opening the expander inlet valve upon start of the expander.  Thus, the Rankine cycle can hold the high pressure of the working fluid having passed through the evaporator upon stop of the expander.  Upon the subsequent start of the expander, therefore, the held high pressure is released by opening the expander inlet valve, so that the expander can be instantly driven to transmit a rotational driving force instantly to the driven force transmission device.  As a result, the output rise upon the start of the expander can be expedited to improve the waste heat recovering efficiency of the waste heat utilization apparatus.
