Abstract:
A water absorbing agent comprising a polymer which is prepared by polymerizing a monomer component comprising acrylic acid and/or a salt thereof, followed by crosslinking, characterized in that it exhibits (1) a free swelling multiplication factor (GV) of 23 g/g or more, a short period pressure test (0.5 hr PT) of 12.5 cm or less and a deterioration with time of pressure test result ($g(D)PT) of 3.5 cm or less, or (2) a free swelling multiplication factor (GV) of 23 g/g or more, a ball burst strength (BBS) of 80 gf or more and a drop of ball burst strength (DBBS) of 40 % or less, or (3) a free swelling multiplication factor (GV) of 23 g/g or more, a 4.9 kPa pressurized absorption multiplication factor (AAP) of 20 g/g or more and a pressure test (16 hr PT) of 12.5 cm or less. The water absorbing agent is novel and is excellent in pressurized absorption multiplication (AAP), pressurized flow rate through gel layer (FRUP), easiness in flow of physiological saline solution through gel layer (SFC), shape holding property of a swollen absorbing agent aggregate, ball burst strength (BBS), and the like, and also is excellent in the durability of such properties.
