Abstract:
A water-based ink which contains a pigment and, despite this, does not dry at a nozzle tip to cause clogging and has the high level of delivery stability which is required in recent years. The water-based ink comprises water, a water-soluble organic solvent, and carbon black particles, the carbon black particles including carbon black particles having a particle diameter of 0.5 µm or larger. This water-based ink is characterized in that the proportion of carbon black particles having a particle diameter not smaller than 0.2 µm and smaller than 0.5 µm in all the carbon black particles contained in the ink is 0.3 vol.% or lower, the number of carbon black particles having a particle diameter not smaller than 0.5 µm and smaller than 5.0 µm is 1.0Œ107 or smaller per mL of the ink, and the carbon black particles have an average particle diameter of 0.060-0.130 µm.
