Abstract:
Provided is a water-based resin composition which comprises: a polymer (A) obtained from starting materials including hydrogenated polybutadiene (a1) having an iodine value in the range of 5-25, a monomer (a2) having an acid group, and a monomer (a3) having a hydroxy group as essential starting materials; a basic compound (B); and an aqueous medium (C). The water-based resin composition is characterized in that the hydrogenated polybutadiene (a1) accounted for 4-38 mass% of the starting materials for the polymer (A) and that the polymer (A) has an acid value in the range of 10-65 mg-KOH/g. The water-based resin composition of the present invention has excellent storage stability and gives coating films excellent in terms of physical properties including adhesion to various substrates and blocking resistance. The water-based resin composition is hence suitable for use as a water-based coating material.
