Description:
Water Boiler Fired with Straw

The object of the invention is a water boiler fired with straw in the form of compressed bales, which can be used in heating systems, both for individual residential buildings and for whole housing estates.

The patent description of patent application P-403356 describes a method of straw combustion in a boiler and a water boiler fired with straw. According to the patent application, the water boiler fired with straw is composed of a straw combustion chamber and a gas combustion chamber that are placed side by side and surrounded by a water jacket. The two chambers are separated from each other by a partition that has an opening at the bottom and a heat exchanger placed above the chambers, and an aerator is placed inside the water jacket, in its lower part. The gas combustion chamber is provided with a row of air-supplying pipes mounted to the rear wall of the boiler and with contralateral air-supplying pipes mounted in the side walls of the boiler. The water jacket, at both sides of the gas combustion chamber, is provided with additional aerators, while the walls of the both chambers are provided with transversal ribs. The boiler characterized in that the row of air- supplying pipes mounted in the rear wall of the boiler is positioned obliquely with respect to the vertical walls of the boiler, and the acute angle, formed by the pipes relative to the horizontal direction, is from 0.1 to 30°. The row of pipes forms an acute angle of 5 to 15° relative to the horizontal direction. The inner diameter of the pipes aligned in a row is from 25-55mm. The row of pipes is made of pipes spaced at distances of 30-600mm from each other.

There is also patent application P-403504 that describes a water boiler fired with straw. This water boiler is composed of a straw combustion chamber and a gas combustion chamber, located side by side and surrounded by a water jacket, while the two chambers are separated from each other with a partition that has an opening at the bottom, and there is a heat exchanger above the chambers. The water boiler characterized in that the heat exchanger is provided with a stub pipe connected to a storage tank with a pipe, while the storage tank has got a stub pipe, in its lower part, connected with a conduit to the iower part of the water jacket of the boiler, A water pump is connected to the pipe that connects the iower part of the storage tank to the Iower part of the water jacket.

The water boiler fired with straw, according to the invention, is composed of a straw combustion chamber and a gas combustion chamber, located side by side and surrounded by a jacket, and the two chambers are separated from each other with a partition that has an opening at the bottom, and there is a heat exchanger above the chambers. The boiler characterized in that the straw combustion chamber has a wall made of steel pipes that are vertically aligned and filled with water, and the steel pipes are connected to horizontal collecting pipes at the top and at the bottom. The vertical pipes filled with water are fixed to each other with steel ribs.

The water boiler fired with straw, according to the invention, is characterised by simple construction, while it ensures good heat exchange between the flue gases and the heating medium contained in the pipes that surround the combustion chamber. At the same time, a device for forcing the circulation of the heating medium - in the form of a pump or an aerator - has been eliminated. Thus, the element that is most prone to failures has been eliminated. Water circulation in the water boiler described in the invention is forced automatically by hot water that moves by itself up to the collecting pipes.

The water boiler fired with straw according to the invention is explained in more detail in an embodiment and in the drawings: Fig.1 shows the water boiler with uncovered combustion chamber, Fig.2 shows the combustion chamber with removed insulation, while Fig.3 shows a cross-section through the wall of the combustion chamber.

As shown in Fig.1 - Fig.3, the water boiler fired with straw has got a combustion chamber 1 placed on a base 2. Above the combustion chamber, there is a heat exchanger 3. The straw combustion chamber 1 has a wall made of vertically-aligned steel pipes 4 filled with water, while the steel pipes 4 are connected to horizontal collecting pipes 5 and 6 at the top and at the bottom. Heated water flows from the collecting pipes 6 to the heat exchanger 3. Moreover, the steel pipes 4 are fixed to each other with steel ribs 7. On the outside, the steel pipes 4 with ribs are shielded with an insulating material 8, preferably mineral wool, while the insulating material is shielded with metal sheet 9.
