Description:
TITLE OWNER/PET WATER BOTTLE The present invention is related to a single sanitary water source for owners and their pets.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides a sanitary connection of a pet water container (herein referred to as a"cup") with a pet owner's water bottle (herein referred to as a"bottle") thus providing a unique opportunity for pets and pet owners to enjoy outdoor activities together without the fear of dehydration.

For instance, during the humid and hot conditions of the summer, pet owners can take their pets running, jogging, mountain climbing, or walking for hours where limited water sources are available because they have a clean source of water for both themselves and their pet.

The Owner/Pet Water Bottle is a convenient method for supplying water or other beverages. It comes equipped with an easily detachable cup for the pet which can be placed on varying surface types such as grass, dirt, cement and uneven terrain. The cup has a very flat bottom to reduce spillage.

In addition, there is a pouring spout and a switch to allow

for fast and easy release of water from the bottle into the cup.

The bottle and cup can be made in many sizes and materials to accommodate various needs. For example, a large pet may require more water for shorter trips hence a larger bottle and cup are needed. Longer outings may be planned where water replenishment is less convenient and a larger and lighter bottle is required.

Many pet owners are faced with the problem of supplying a water source for their pets during outdoor activities.

The Owner/Pet Water Bottle provides a solution for pet owners by offering a portable, lightweight, and easy to use water bottle with a water release apparatus and cup.

Prior to the present invention, several approaches were used to utilize a combination bottle and cup assembly although those approaches did not attempt to address the issue of owners and their pets. See US Patents 896,903 and 4,984,723.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is directed to a multi-purpose beverage bottle for beverage consumption by humans and animals having a bottle for beverage consumption by humans detachably connected to a cup for beverage consumption by animals comprising:

* a bottle having a top and a bottom which contains a beverage for consumption by the human; an optional removable drinking spout which is suitably attached at the top of the bottle; * a pouring spout which is suitably positioned in the bottom of the bottle ; * a switch connected to the pouring spout, which controls the release of beverage through the pouring spout from the bottle into the cup; and * a cup which contains the beverage for consumption by the pet.

FIG. 2 is an exploded view the bridge and notch assembly connection which serves as a detachable connection means between bottle and cup.

FIG. 3 is a frontal view of the present invention wherein the bottle and cup are separated and the pouring spout is a tube connected to a clamp switch.

FIG. 4 is a cut away view of the present invention wherein the bottle and cup are separated, the pouring spout is a tube connected to a clamp switch and the interior circumferential spiral stitching of the cup is exposed.

FIG. 5 is a frontal view of the present invention wherein the bottle and cup are separated, the pouring spout is a tube connected to a spray apparatus switch and the bottle top has a drinking spout.

FIG. 6 is an exploded frontal view of the present invention wherein the bottle and cup are separated and the pouring spout is a tube connected to a spray apparatus switch.- FIG. 7 is an example of a beverage being dispensed from the bottle of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Referring to the drawings, FIGS. 1-7 illustrate an owner/pet water bottle or elements thereof referred to by the general reference character 1.

FIG. 1 illustrates the owner/pet water bottle of the present invention generally. The Owner/Pet Water Bottle 1 has a bottle 10, a bottle top 12, a drinking spout 14, a pouring spout 16, a switch 18, a cup 20 and a connection means 22. Variations of the switch 18 (also the on/off switch) have been identified in the drawings as 18 (a), 18 (b) and 18 (c).

The owner drinks water from bottle 10 via the drinking spout 14 or by removing the bottle top 12. The owner dispenses the water to the cup 20 via the pouring spout 16.

FIGs. 3 through 7 depict the cup 20 attached to the bottle 10 by multiple connection means 22 selected from the group consisting of circumferential spiral stitching 11,22 and a bridge 17 and notch 24 assembly, preferably circumferential spiral stitching 11,22. The circumferential spiral stitching allows the pet's cup 20 to. easily be screwed on and off in the same manner as the bottle top 12.

Circumferential spiral stitching 11,22 is suitably positioned on the interior of the cup and suitably positioned on the exterior of the bottle to receive the cup.

The bottle top 12 has interior circumferential spiral stitching (not shown) which connects with corresponding circumferential spiral stitching 13. Fig. 2 depicts a bridge 17 and notch 24 assembly which allows cup 20 to be turned slightly allowing the notch 24 on cup 20 to go around the bridge 17 on bottle 10, thereby, detaching the cup 20.

To ensure sanitary conditions, there is a small amount of space (between l/12th and 1/4th inch) between the bottom of bottle 10 and the inside top of cup 20.

As shown in FIG. 1, and 3-7, cup 20 has a very flat bottom to provide ultimate stability on varying surfaces such as grass, dirt, rocks, and uneven terrain. In addition, the cup 20 does not have any protruding pieces which eliminates difficulty in transportation as well as

needs to construct carrying devices beyond those already in the market.

FIGs. l and 3-7 depict the pouring spout 16. The pouring Spout 16 is connected with a switch 18. The switch 18 controls the release of beverage through the pouring spout 16 from the bottle into the cup 20. Switches 18 (a)- (c) are selected from the group consisting of clamps, inverted drinking spouts and sprayers.

As shown in FIG. 1, the pouring spout 16 is a tube 16 and the switch 18 is an inverted drinking spout 18 (a). The inverted drinking spout 18 (a) momentarily releases water when pulled opened and immediately ceases when the inverted drinking spout 18 (a) is pushed closed.

As shown in FIG. 4, the pouring spout 16 is a tube and the switch 18 is an on/off clamp 18 (b). The on/off clamp 18 (b) allows the owner to dispense water quickly and then close without fear of water seepage. The tube 16 is collapsible in the cup 20 where it is stored.

FIGs. 5-7 depict a further variation wherein the pouring spout 16 is a tube 16 and the switch 18 is a spray apparatus 18 (c). The spray apparatus 18 (c) has an on/off component that permits the owner to spray water on himself and/or his pet. This adds an even further dimension to the present invention.

FIGs. 1-7, excluding FIG. 2, depict the bottle top 12 which is of a standard size and shape to allow for various replacements currently sold in the market such as drinking spouts 14 and drinking straws. It has the standard circumferential spiral stitching 13, corresponding to circumferential spiral stitching at the top of the bottle, which permits the bottle top 12 to screw on and off.

Any type of beverage can be used in this invention including different beverages or liquids in the bottle 10 and the cup 20. The preferred beverage is cold water.

However, warm liquids as well as cold liquids may be utilized depending on the materials used in constructing the Owner/Pet Water Bottle 1.

The various components of the Owner/Pet Water Bottle 1 can be made in various materials including plastic and metal. However, plastic is preferred because of it's cost, durability, and flexibility.

In addition, the Owner/Pet Water Bottle 1 and it's corresponding components can be produced in various sizes (liters). This allows owners of the present invention to use current water bottle carrying devices on the market to assist in its transport.

Changes and modifications in the specifically described embodiments can be carried out without departing from the scope of the invention which is intended to be limited only by the scope of the appended claims.
