A water closet (10), comprising a bowl part (20), a connection path (31), an upward path (32) and, through a dam (34), a downward path (33) connected in series in that order, the downward path (33) further comprising an expanded part (33a) with increased pipe line diameter and an end restricted part (33b) with an opening area smaller than that of the expanded part (33a) both connected to the end portion thereof and being connected to a drain socket (70), the drain socket (70) further comprising a drain pipe socket part (72) installed so as to be positioned in a drain pipe (90) and forming, by a drain pipe socket part (72), a siphon action inducing part having a socket expansion part (75) with increased pipe line diameter and a restricted line part (76) with reduced diameter, below a toilet floor surface (FL).
