Description:
Water free composition and cosmetic use thereof Technical field

The present invention relates to a water free composition comprising Cocos nucifera oil. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a personal care product and a kit comprising said composition. The present invention also relates to the use of said composition as a cosmetic, and use in a personal care product.

Background

Removing make-up and impurities, such as sebum, dead skin cells, and pollution, from the skin is very important for the care of the face. Poor make-up- removing and cleansing quality are often responsible for blocking of the natural exfoliating process and clogging of pores, which can lead to spots and inflammation.

Numerous compositions exist for the removal of make-up from the face and the eyes. However, the majority of these compositions are based on the use of surfactants, which may be irritating to the skin and cause drying of the skin due to removal of the natural oil film of the skin. The latter causes the sebaceous glands to subsequently overproduce oil, a condition known as reactive seborrhoea, which might lead to clogged pores. Furthermore, some surfactant based compositions have a pH value that is much higher than pH of the skin, which may favour growth of some types of bacteria on the skin, causing acne. Many make-up products, such as lipstick, mascara, and foundation, are oil-based and leave an oil-containing residue on the skin surface that cannot be easily removed. Today, many make-up products are waterproof and long-lasting, which makes them more difficult to remove. Removal of such oil-based products is generally performed with the aid of a make-up remover based on oil, such as two-phase compositions.

Other removal products are purely based on oils. However, many of these make-up removal products are often so unpleasant to apply due to solid state of the oil in room temperature, that it is preferable to use a classical cleansing lotion containing surfactants. In addition, many of these make-up removal products leave on an unpleasant greasy residue. Another issue with make-up removal products is that they usually comprise preservatives, such as stabilizers and anti-bacterial agents. These ingredients may cause irritation of the skin.

It is particularly difficult to combine good removal of the make-up with good cosmetic characteristics such as pleasantness and comfort during and after application. In addition, what kind of cleansing product that is best suited is highly dependent on the consumer's skin type. Hence, there is a need for new and effective formulations for thoroughly cleansing of the skin.

Summary

The present invention relates to water free, oil based compositions. In particular, the present invention comprises compositions useful for efficient removal of make-up and impurities from the face, without leaving a greasy residue. Without containing water or needing to be rinsed of with water, the formulation can be used to remove make-up and impurities from the face while leaving skin with a moisturized, smooth feeling and healthy glow.

Zussman (1966) in "An Introduction to the Rock Forming

Minerals, Longman" (ISBN 0-582-44210-9), MICA can be chemically characterized by the general formula:

in which

X is K, Na, or Ca or less commonly Ba, Rb, or Cs;

Y is Al, Mg, or Fe or less commonly Mn, Cr, Ti, Li, etc.;

Z is chiefly Si or Al, but also may include Fe 3+ or Ti.

Structurally, micas can be classed as dioctahedral (Y = 4) and trioctahedral (Y = 6). If the X ion is K or Na, the MICA is a common MICA, whereas if the X ion is Ca, the MICA is classed as a brittle MICA.

In one embodiment, the composition comprises no more than 1 % MICA. In one embodiment, the composition further comprises carrot root extract. Furthermore, in one embodiment, the composition further comprises biosilica from diatoms (algae). In a preferred embodiment, the composition comprises maximum 80% biosilica, preferably 5-10%.

Diatoms are unicellular microscopic algae, with cell walls consisting of silicon dioxide. The cell wall has a very specific pattern of tiny pores, allowing exchange of nutrients and waste products. Each pattern is species specific. Benefit in cosmetic products: protects from UV-light, protects skin from pollution , rehydrates skin . Biosilica from diatoms naturally contains tiny amounts of water. When you mix biosilica material from Diatoms (Algae) with the composition according to any of the proceeding claims, it creates a superior composition/facial oil or serum with the potential for acting as a UV - and pollution protection on the human skin. These potential added benefits are due to the attributes of the Diatom silica.

The texture of the composition is also thickened and more pleasant to apply to the skin as a facial serum or cream, and because of the fact that the biosilica diatoms dissolves in the oil without any added water or emulgator it allows for the composition to still stay preservative-free.

How to mix/ add Diatom silica material into composition: Heat up the coconut oil to minimum 30 C, mix in the other ingredients. Let it cool. Slowly add particles of the diatom silica into the mixture and stir and/or gently press the particles until they dissolve in the oil composition.

Furthermore, according to one embodiment, the composition further comprises Moringa oil. Removed particles

As the compositions of the current invention are based on oil, they easily dissolve and/or remove the majority of make-up and impurities from the face. In one embodiment, the make-up-removing or cleaning composition eliminates for example spots or stains from make-up with a pigment base; particles coming from the atmosphere; and fats present either in the make-up products or arising from an excess of sebum present on the surface of the skin.
