Abstract:
Provided is a water heater capable of reserving water and being prevented from malfunctioning when an earthquake occurs.  The electric water heater (1) is provided with a water storage tank (110), a water supply unit (120), a hot-water supply unit (130) for supplying water from the water storage tank (110) into the house, a heating unit (111) for heating the water stored in the water storage tank (110) by midnight power, a control unit (140) for controlling the water supply unit (120) and the hot-water supply unit (130), an earthquake detection unit (200) for detecting an earthquake, a reporting unit (160) for reporting the earthquake detected by the earthquake detection unit (200), and an emergency faucet (112) provided in the water storage tank (110).  The earthquake detection unit (200) comprises an earthquake sensing unit (210) including a MEMS sensor (211) for detecting the acceleration and an analysis unit (220) for analyzing the detected acceleration.  The control unit (140) stops the supply of water by the water supply unit (120) and the discharge of water by the hot-water supply unit (130) when an earthquake with a predetermined seismic intensity or more is detected.
