A water inlet assembly and a washing machine, the water inlet assembly comprising: a water inlet shaft (300) having a hollow water inlet channel, an inwardly concave clamping groove (301) being provided on the outer wall; a water inlet end cover (100) having a sleeve part (140) sleeved on the water outlet end of the water inlet shaft (300); a limiting member mounted on the sleeve part (140) to be capable of relative movement along the radial direction of the sleeve part (140), and capable of being clamped into/disengaged from the clamping groove (301); and a locking mechanism used for maintaining a limiting state in which the limiting member is clamped into the clamping groove (301). In the present water inlet assembly, by means of the arrangement of the locking mechanism, the limiting member can be kept clamped into the clamping groove (301) on the water inlet shaft (300), so that the water inlet end cover (100) is fixed on the water inlet shaft (300) and will not fall off; the locking mechanism is operated to release the locking effect on the limiting member, so that the limiting member disengages from the clamping groove (301), enabling the water inlet end cover (100) to be removed, operation being simple and convenient.
