Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a carotenoid-based pigment composition that is water-insoluble and oil-insoluble; and a coating material or a print marker for food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or pesticides, a stationery article, a writing tool, a printing ink, an inkjet ink, a metal ink, a coating material, a plastic coloring agent, a color toner, a fluorescent labeling agent, a fluorescent probe, or a chemistry sensor containing said pigment composition. The present invention was accomplished by the discovery that a water-insoluble pigment composition obtained by covering, impregnating, compositing, or adsorbing a carotenoid-based pigment on a metal or a metallic compound is insoluble to water, and that said water-insoluble pigment composition can be widely used in various applications as a coloring agent.
