Abstract:
Disclosed is a water intake device for pumping water up from the sea or a lake, which is easy to install and maintain, and the vertical orientation of which is resistant to collapse. A water intake pipe (3) is composed of a plurality of polyethylene pipe bodies (4) disposed in a lengthwise direction, and the uppermost pipe body (4) is fixed to the bottom (12a) of a vessel. A tensile cable (5) is passed through the inside of the water intake pipe (3), a weight provided to the lower side of the lowest pipe body (4) is hung from the tensile cable (5), and the upper end of the tensioning cable (5) is wound around a hoisting mechanism on the vessel, normally generating torque in the upward hoisting direction. Thus, the pipe bodies (4) are pressure welded and the linearity thereof is maintained.
