Abstract:
A water intrusion detection method for detecting intrusion of water into a lubricant in a device that is configured such that a plurality of portions thereof are lubricated with the lubricant, the method comprising: measuring the impedance of an electrical circuit formed of the plurality of portions by applying an alternating-current voltage to the electrical circuit while sweeping the frequency of the alternating-current voltage, and comparing characteristics indicated by the real and imaginary parts of the measured impedance with characteristics indicated by the real and imaginary parts of the impedance measured when water is not mixed with the lubricant, to detect the intrusion of water into the lubricant.
