Abstract:
The invention relates to a water pump, in particular for motor vehicles. The problem addressed by the invention is that of providing a water pump, in particular for motor vehicles, which meets the requirements of an inexpensively producible water pump for extended operating times and extreme operating conditions and which is easy to manufacture and assemble. The water pump according to the invention, comprising an outer race (1) arranged in a bearing housing (21), a shaft (2) arranged centrally in the outer race, an impeller (26) arranged at the water-facing free end of the shaft (2), and a drive element arranged on the free end of the shaft (2) lying opposite the impeller (26), is characterized, among other things, in that the bearing housing (21) is formed by a connection plate (22) which is provided with fastening bores (23) and which has a cylinder flange (24), and by a leakage container (25) arranged on the connection plate (22), in that a special radial shaft seal (7) is arranged in the outer race (1), adjacent to the shaft seal (6) adjoining the rolling elements (3) on the water-facing side, which special radial shaft seal (7) forms a compact bearing (14) together with the outer race (1), the shaft (2), the rolling elements (3) that circulate in the raceways (4), and the shaft seals (6), and in that, in the final assembly state, the outer race (1) of the compact bearing (14) is arranged in the cylinder flange (24) in such a way that leakage openings (13) located in the outer race (1) of the compact bearing (14) face the leakage container (25) located on the connection plate (22) or on the cylinder flange (24).
