A water purifying device comprises a photocatalyst storage space (4) formed between an inner tube (2) and an outer tube (3) so arranged that their axes are vertically directed, an inflow hole (9) and an outflow hole (10) communicating with the photocatalyst storage space (4), and a light source body (11) disposed at the core portion of the inner tube. At least the inner tube (2) is made of a light-transmissive material. The photocatalyst storage space (4) is divided into a plurality of photocatalyst chambers (4a-4h) by partition walls (7) arranged in the radial directions, and each of the photocatalyst chambers is filled with a photocatalyst. Furthermore, the photocatalyst chambers communicate with each other through flow passages (8) provided in the partition walls (7) at their upper and lower positions. The water introduced from the inflow hole (9) flows through all the photocatalyst chambers and is discharged from the outflow hole (10).
