Abstract:
The present invention is a water repellent composition containing, as a component (A), a condensation reaction product between (a) an organopolysiloxane having a hydroxy group or an alkoxy group at both ends of the molecular chain thereof and being represented by general formula (1), namely, (R2O)R1
2SiO-(R1
2SiO)m-SiR1
2(OR2), and (b) a trialkylsiloxysilicate having an R1
3SiO1/2 unit, a SiO2 unit, and a siloxane unit having a hydroxy group bonded to a silicon atom, where the molar ratio of the R1
3SiO1/2 unit to the SiO2 unit is 0.6-1.3, and the contained amount of the hydroxy group is not less than 0.1 but less than 2.0 mass%. As a result, provided is a water repellent composition that is effectively used as a water repellent having superior water repellency, that is particularly suitably applied as a chemical agent for coated surfaces and glass surfaces of automobiles, and that provides good initial water repellency and water repellency durability.
