Title:
WATER-RESISTANT PRINTED MATTER AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/099153
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a water-resistant printed matter, e.g., a textbook or a paperback, which not only is safe for the human body and the environment but also is so less apt to change with the lapse of time that the printed matter can be used even by the next generation in expectation of an improvement in education. A plurality of water-resistant sheets (1, 1 ···) which bear necessary printed information are stacked, and the binding parts (2) of the stacked water-resistant sheets (1, 1 ···) are bonded with a special adhesive. The water-resistant sheets (1, 1 ···) are constituted of a sheet-shaped polyethylene terephthalate (PET resin) obtained by recycling used PET bottles (waste material). By incorporating a white inorganic pigment, the sheets (1, 1 ···) are whitened so that characters, patterns, and the like are easily visible. A preferred example of the white inorganic pigment is titanium dioxide, and the proportions of the polyethylene terephthalate and titanium dioxide preferably are 85-98 wt.% and 2-15 wt.%, respectively.
