Abstract:
A novel water-soluble metalworking fluid or the like is required. A water-soluble metalworking fluid including a base oil (A) and an ether carboxylic acid (B) represented by general formula (b-1), wherein the ether carboxylic acid (B) content is 0.1-10 mass% based on the total amount of the water-soluble metalworking fluid. [In the formula, A is a C1-4 alkylene group; when multiple A are present, the multiple A may be the same group or mutually different groups. B is a single bond or a C1-4 alkylene group, n is an integer of 1-100, and R is a hydrocarbon group.]
