Abstract:

Disclosed is a water-soluble thickener which is characterized by being composed of a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid or a salt thereof, hydroxyethylacrylamide and a crosslinkable monomer, or a copolymer obtained by neutralizing the thus-obtained copolymer with an alkaline chemical. Also disclosed is a cosmetic preparation characterized by containing such a water-soluble thickener. The present invention aims to provide a copolymer with high stability and high safety which can sufficiently serve as a water-soluble thickener when blended in a cosmetic preparation.
