Abstract:
A water vapor-permeable and waterproof material having high water vapor permeability and waterproofness and also excellent adhesiveness between a covering layer such as vapor-permeable and waterproof layer and a structured substance made of fibers such as a cloth and high durability; and a method for manufacturing the water vapor-permeable and waterproof material. This water vapor-permeable and waterproof material can be manufactured by a method comprising coating a material for an adhesive layer capable of swelling with water over a water vapor-permeable and waterproof layer in a manner such that the adhesive layer is uppermost, converting the material into a film, and crimping a structured substance made of fibers which has been subjected to a pretreatment with a polyhydric compound onto the resulting adhesive layer capable of swelling with water to bind the adhesive layer with the structured substance. This water vapor-permeable and waterproof material is suitably used for outdoor wears, wears in connection with skiing and the like as well as gloves and shoes and the like.
