Abstract:
When wave energy is utilized for electric power generation or the like, it is stored
efficiently at a low cost by a simple device, and can be utilized for electric power
generation at any time. The wave energy storage device comprises a floating structure
floating on the surface of the sea, a flexible long body hanging into the sea from
the floating structure with a weight being fixed to the lower end, and a means for
hoisting the long body to the floating structure side by one of the upward and downward
movements of the floating structure incident to rise or fall of the surface of
the sea due to the wave to raise the position of the weight and hold the hoisted up
position, thus storing wave energy as the potential energy of the weight. Furthermore,
descending motion produced when hoisting/holding of the long body is released
and the weight is lowered is transmitted as rotation motion to a generator, thus
generating electric power.
