Abstract:
Provided are: a weed control material that has a short curing time and excellent initial strength developing properties, can impart resistance against initial freezing damage and cracking, can reduce labor required for mowing and ensures a persistent weed control effect and environmental protection; and a method for using the weed control material.
The weed control material comprises calcium aluminate and soil. Preferably, the weed control material also comprises cement, further comprises gypsum, furthermore comprises a shrinkage reducing agent or fiber, and furthermore comprises calcium silicate. Preferably, calcium aluminate in the weed control material has a CaO/Al2O3 molar ratio of 1.0-3.0 and contains not more than 15 mass% of impurities. The method for using the weed control material comprises laying the weed control material on the ground and sprinkling water thereon to thereby cover the ground, or kneading the weed control material with water and then laying on the ground to thereby cover the ground.
