Provided is a weft knitting machine equipped with a movable sinker wherein a knitting yarn can be prevented reliably from dropping into the gap between the movable sinker and the sinker groove even if a top tooth is formed at the distal end of a needle bed. A movable sinker (14) is provided with an elongated hole (14b) so that oscillatory displacement is ensured in a state where the distal end of a knitting yarn anti-dropping portion (15b) extending from a yarn guide spacer (15) is inserted into the elongated hole. Since the gap produced between the movable sinker (14) and the sinker groove (2c) is covered with the anti-dropping portion (15b) on the side where the movable sinker (14) is adjacent to a knitting needle (3), the knitting yarn can be prevented reliably from dropping. The yarn guide spacer (15) is formed of a plate-like metal material, and the knitting yarn anti-dropping portion (15b) is formed on the distal end side of the extension (15c) which extends across the bottom of the needle groove (2a).
