Abstract:
A weft knitting machine configured so that stitch transfer failures such as a stitch drop and stitch split are prevented from occurring, thereby capable of performing stable stitch transfer, and a stitch transfer method for the weft knitting machine.
In a weft knitting machine (10), as shown in (a), a slider (7) of a composite needle (5) on the stitch receiving side is caused to start to advance to a needle bed gap (2) before the tip of a hook (6a), which is being pulled in, reaches a stitch (8). As shown in (b), the bottom section of the tip of a tongue (7b) reaches the position of the stitch (8). When the tongue (7b) is advanced further, the bottom section of the tip of the tongue (7b) rises along the stitch (8) as shown in (c). The stitch (8) is pushed in so as to descend further toward a needle shaft (6b) side than a descent trajectory (6c) of the tip of the hook (6a). If the tip of the tongue (7b) is adapted such that, when the hook (6a) becomes closed by the tongue (7b), the tip once ascends relative to the needle shaft (6b) and then descends, even if the stitch (8) is in a lifted state, the stitch (8) can be reliably lowered and captured within the hook (6a).
