A weft knitting machine configured in such a manner that vibration of a knitting pad occurring when the pad makes contact with a lower-down sloped surface can be minimized.  A weft knitting machine which is provided with a cam system having cam plates (100), a needle raising cam (2), a top cam (3), and stitch cams (4) is provided with a pair of projectable cams (1).  Each of the projectable cams (1) is provided between a lift-up sloped surface (8) and a lower-down sloped surface (9) so as to be able to project from the associated cam plate.  When a knitting pad (70) is located on the side where the knitting pad (70) is lifted by the lift-up sloped surface (8), the projectable cam (1) is in a retracted state so as not to obstruct movement of the knitting pad (70), and when the knitting pad (70) is located on the side where the knitting pad (70) is lowered by the lower-down sloped surface (9), the projectable cam (1) is in a projected state so that allowance for vertical vibration of the knitting pad is reduced by a guiding sloped surface (10) which faces the rear end of the knitting pad (70).
