Title:
WEIGHT MEASURING ELEMENT AND WEIGHING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/007767
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A weight measuring element (WM) has an optical fiber sensor which comprises optical fibers (20a, 20b) and a sensor unit (SP) that leaks some of the light transmitted at the interface with the optical fibers (20a, 20b), and which emits from the emission end the light which is incident on the incident end and has passed through the sensor unit (SP); a first substrate (1); and a second substrate (2) provided with an opening (2a). The optical fiber sensor is arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate, which are stacked in the vertical direction, so that the sensor unit (SP) is positioned within the region of the opening (2a). When a load is applied from above, a convex bend which projects towards the opening (2a) is produced in the sensor unit (SP) of the optical fiber sensor and in the vicinity thereof, and a loss corresponding to the load is produced in the light transmitted by the optical fiber sensor. Both light and heavy objects can be measured.
