Abstract:
A welding device for manufacturing an electric resistance welded tube is configured in such a manner that, after a metal band plate which is traveling is bent by rollers into a cylindrical shape so that both ends of the metal band plate in the widthwise direction thereof face each other, an electric power supply section for an induction heating device or a conduction heating device is disposed proximal to the cylindrically bent metal band plate, both the ends are heated by Joule effect by means of electric power supplied by the electric power supply section, and then both the ends are welded together while being pressed against each other. The device is provided with a ferromagnet which is inserted with clearance between both the ends at a position, when viewed in the travel direction of the metal band plate, upstream of the electric power supply section and corresponding to the opening between both the ends which face each other.
