An inspection unit (30) of a welding inspection device (1) comprises: a striking device having a striking member (104) for applying an impulsive force to a press-molded article made of metal, a drive mechanism (108) for applying a driving force to the striking member, and an urging member (110) for urging the striking member in the direction opposite the direction of application of the drive force of the drive mechanism; a microphone (120) into which are inputted sound waves generated from the press-molded article having been struck by the striking member; and a detection device (130) for detecting the welding state of the press-molded article in accordance with the waveform characteristics of the sound waves inputted to the microphone. In a state where the drive force from the drive mechanism is turned off and the striking member is urged by the urging member in the direction opposite the direction of application, the striking member applies the impulsive force on the press-molded article, and after having applied the impulsive force to the press-molded article, is forcibly pulled back by the urging member in the direction opposite the direction of application.
