To provide a wet friction material that succeeds in reducing dragging torque through different means than in conventional practice, this wet friction material 1 has a plurality of friction parts 3 disposed in a ring shape at intervals from each other in a core plate 2 and a main surface 2a of the core plate 2, and a plurality of oil grooves 4 formed by being divided off by the friction parts 3. The friction parts are provided with left-side walls, right-side walls, outer peripheral walls, and inner peripheral walls in plan view, and include three types of friction parts, which are first through third friction parts having different forms of side wall pairs. In each first friction part 3A, in relation to an imaginary line segment LA, a left-side wall 3AWL is slanted to the right, a right-side wall 3AWR is slanted to the left, and the length of an outer peripheral wall 3AWO is less than the length of an inner peripheral wall 3AWI. In each second friction part 3B, in relation to an imaginary line segment LB, a pair of side walls 3BWL and 3BWR are both slanted to the right. In each third friction part 3C, in relation to an imaginary line segment LC, a pair of side walls 3CWL and 3CWR are both slanted to the left.
