Abstract:

A wheel bearing assembly according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a wheel hub having a hub flange; at least one inner race mounted on one side of the wheel hub; an outer race mounted on a radially outer side of the at least one inner race; a spacer coupled to a vehicle body side end of the inner race located at the vehicle body side; and at least one rolling element mounted between the at least one inner race and the outer race, wherein the vehicle body side end of the wheel hub may be plastically deformed radially outward so to maintain the at least one inner race in the wheel hub. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of recesses for accommodating rotating elements of a constant velocity joint may be formed on the inner circumferential surface of the vehicle body side end of the wheel hub to be spaced apart from each other in a circumferential direction; a heat-treatment hardened portion may be formed on the inner circumferential surface of the vehicle body side end of the wheel hub; and the heat-treatment hardened portion may be formed to include at least a region which the rotating elements of the constant velocity joint contact. In addition, the vehicle body side end of the spacer may be configured to be spaced apart from a vehicle body side axial end of the heat-treatment hardened portion toward the vehicle body side.
