Abstract:
Provided is a wheel bearing device, which is equipped with a rotational speed detector, and that allows for improved ease of assembly and ensures sealing properties. A sensor cap (14) is formed into a cap shape by press forming a stainless steel plate, and is provided with a cylindrical interlocking part (14a) that is pressure fitted to the inner circumference of the end section of an outer member (2), and a bottom part (14c) that extends radially inward from the interlocking part (14a) via a reduced diameter part (14b) and covers the end section of the inside of an inner member (1). The sensor cap (14) is placed facing a rotational speed sensor (18) so that the rotational speed sensor abuts with or approaches the bottom part (14c). A magnetic encoder (13) and the rotational speed sensor (18) face one another via the lower part (14c) and a designated air gap in the axial direction. An elastic member (15) comprising an annular protrusion (15a) that protrudes radially outward is integrally joined to the outer circumference of the reduced diameter part (14b) of the sensor cap (14) by means of vulcanization bonding, and is press-fit to the inner circumference of the end section of the outer member (2) by being elastically deformed.
