A wheel bearing unit and a method of manufacturing the bearing unit, wherein the axial both end parts of a hub (8b) are supported on the support part of a finishing apparatus rotatably around the center axis of the hub (8b) in the state of suppressing a displacement in radial direction, and the outer side surface (28) of a mounting flange (13) and a first inner ring raceway track (14) are finished to specified shapes before the hub (8b) is removed from the support part, whereby the squareness of the outer side surface (28) of the mounting flange (13) provided on the hub (8b) relative to the rotating center of the hub (8b) can be increased, and the deflection of the rotor fixed to the outer side surface (28) can be suppressed to prevent judder from occurring at the time of braking.
