Abstract:
Disclosed is a wheel bearing with a sensor capable of reducing detection errors caused by the shape of an outward member and capable of accurately estimating a load imposed on a wheel. Specifically, the front shape of a flange (1a) of an outward member (1) of a wheel bearing, the flange being used for installing the bearing in a vehicle body, is formed so as to be axisymmetric with respect to a line segment orthogonal to a shaft center of the bearing or point-symmetric with respect to the shaft center of the bearing. A sensor unit (20) including a distortion generating member (21) having two or more fixed contact units (21a) that are brought into contact with and fixed to the outer circumference of the outward member (1) and a sensor (22) that detects the distortion is disposed at a portion (1aa) having an arc-shaped cross-section extending from a base end of a side surface of the flange (1a) adjacent to an outboard side to the outer circumference of the outward member (1), at a portion on the outer circumferential surface of the outward member (1) adjacent to the outboard side, at a position where the outer circumference of the outward member (1) intersects with a line segment (Lθ) passing through the center of a rolling element (5) adjacent to the outboard side and forming a rolling-element contact angle, or at a position adjacent thereto. Alternatively, a plurality of sensor units (20) can be disposed on the outer circumference of the outward member (1) in the circumferential direction at regular intervals.
