Abstract:
This wheel module (10) is used in a vehicle (90) including two or more independently steerable wheels capable of being steered independently, the wheel module constituting an independently steered wheel. The wheel module (10) comprises a tire (2), a steering unit (3) which outputs a steering force to steer the tire (2), a drive unit (5) which outputs a driving force to drive the tire (2), a braking unit (6) which outputs a braking force to brake the tire (2), and a suspension mechanism (7). The suspension mechanism (7) is supported by an upper end side fulcrum (SU) and a lower end side fulcrum (SL), and buffers against vibration or impact transmitted from the road surface. A virtual straight line in the vertical direction passing through the radial-direction center and the width-direction center of the tire (2) is defined as the "tire central axis (Zt)." When viewed from the side surface of the tire (2), the lower end side fulcrum (SL) of the suspension mechanism (7) is disposed at a position separated from the tire central axis (Zt).
