Abstract:

　Provided are a white glass container having exceptional mechanical strength and white coloration irrespective of the melting conditions or molding conditions of a glass composition, and a method for producing the same. A white glass container provided with a least a neck portion and a barrel portion, the white glass container being derived from a halogen-free glass composition through phase separation, and a method for producing the same, wherein the white glass container and method for producing the same are characterized in that: the glass composition includes at least, e.g., SiO2, P2O5, Al2O3, B2O3, R2O (R = Na, K), MgO, and CaO as components; the neck portion and the barrel portion have in part or in their entirety a white multi-layer structure that includes a white transparent layer of relatively low white coloration and a white opaque layer of relatively high white coloration, in the stated order from the respective outer-surface sides; and the contained amounts of P2O5 and CaO in the white transparent layer are respectively lower than the contained amounts of P2O5 and CaO in the white opaque layer.
