Title:
WHOLE-CANE CO-FERMENTATION OF LIGNOCELLULOSE AND SOLUBLE SUGAR TO PRODUCE ETHANOL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2024/039855
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
A method for converting sugar-rich feedstocks to ethanol and other desired products is described. According to the instant disclosure, sugar-rich liquid and lignocellulose-rich solids are co-fermented without being separated first, to produce biofuels. As compared to separate processing of such liquids and solids, co-fermenting them may offer further advantages by enhanced function of the viability of microbial biocatalysts.
