Title:
WIDE-WHEEL GRINDING MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2000038882
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention provides for a modular machine frame structure instead of the frame constructions customary to date. According to the invention the individual modules are made of non-metal castings, notably a mineral casting, produced using a cold-casting method. The invention relates in particular to vibration damping which is to be carried out as close as possible to the source and directly at the level of the grinding heads in the mass of the machine frame. Multi-head machines are assembled in accordance with the number of grinding heads on the basis of frame modules which are similar in shape. During grinding, advantage is taken of the good vibration damping properties of the mineral castings. In the case of massive constructions a large part of the conducting lines as well as precision connecting parts, support plates and yoke plates for the main power flow can be incorporated by casting.
